Hey everyone! Hope you all had an absolutely wonderful summer. It feels so strange to me that I haven't seen all of your families for over two months! Well, as most of you know, we are moving into a new classroom for this upcoming school year. I am so excited. I always felt that the risers in our old classroom were a great tool for instructional/communal time but were not built for the most effective use. Well, my father and I have taken on the task of building the one risers to rule them all (we sincerely hope). We've begun with some pre-fab work at home and plan on putting them together this tuesday, August 25th in our classroom. If anyone is interested in helping, construction work will begin at 11:00 am. It should not be too labor intensive and I would love for any and all to come by to meet my old man. On the other hand, we will be using power tools, so it may not be the most kid friendly environment (though I cannot imagine it being too unsafe). Following that, I will be doing some more classroom cleaning and organizing. I have a goal to categorize all of our books before the school year begins so that students can spend less time digging through stacks of books and more time reading them. This work will begin at 2:00 pm. If you are thinking about possibly coming, I would love for your children to come along. We now have a big door that opens up to the playground and we could organize some games and activities for the kids. This day also happens to be my birthday and I would love to see any of you after this long break. I hope everyone is well and I absolutely cannot wait for this tremendous year we have in front of us!
Best,
Whitney
