First Day of School!!

Parents, please consider coming to any part of the school day to see what happens and assist Whitney. It really make a difference to the kids to have adult help in the class.

Here is the schedule for the day - found on the white board every day.

The day starts with a class meeting, sharing the following.

We will introduce ourselves.
We will explore our classrooms and our school.
We will have snack and recess.
We will have reading workshop.
We will have lunch and recess.
We will have read aloud.
We will talk about mediation.
We will learn about Warm Fuzzies.
We will begin talking about continents.
We will be very curious.

Every Fridays we have sharing time. This Friday the theme will be 'an artifact from your summer'. What is an artifact? An item from your summer. Something that might tell us a lot about your summer. Some fun questions from the crew: "Can I share my pet?" "Can I bring something from another summer?"

Introductions: We are going to go around and say our name and then we are going to say an adjective. What is an adjective? Yes, it is a describing word! Is sticky a describing word? So when we say our name then pick an adjective that starts with the first letter of your name and describes you and then act that out.

Maybe too tough...so let's go around say your name and your age.

Risers rule - no feet on the pillows so that we can keep them clean. Don't jump off the back. Don't climb through the cave - the holes in the risers. We will have time today for everyone to climb through and then we are going to agree to not climb through for the rest of the year.
