!!Field Trip!!

Hi everyone! Next Thursday we will be taking our classes on a field trip to The Tears of Joy Puppet Theater to see "Little One Inch." We will be leaving at 9:00 and taking The Max downtown. We really need chaperones for this to happen. Max and theater tickets will be provided. We will return to Trillium by noon for lunch at school. There is a sign up sheet outside our classroom. We probably need a minimum of 4 chaperones for this to work, but the more the merrier (and less stress inducing when piling into the train). Thanks so much and I'm really looking forward to this experience!

Elective Choices

Upcoming Project Fair

Hey all! It was so nice to see everyone that were able to make it to the Poe's house for our pot luck. Once again it was a huge success! As you know, we have a project fair/night coming up this Thursday night. We've already done a lot to transform our classroom into an African Rain Forest. I am hoping we can allow our kids to do a lot more. We are looking to do replications of rain forest animals and any help from parents would be greatly appreciated. Times that are open for help are Tuesday from 1-3:00, Wednesday from 1:00 from 2:00, and Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00, If You have the extra time, please let me know or just drop by.

Potluck!

Welcome Back!! Unfortunately I had computer problems this morning, so I don't have the schedule from today. However, there were a few announcements:

The Class Potluck is scheduled for this Sunday, 3:30 - 6:30 at Joshua's house. Please sign up outside the classroom.

There was a meeting this morning at 9:45 for the students about Humble Hearts school in Kenya, which was recently bulldozed unexpectedly. Whitney read a letter from the school. (The letter also went out on the parent e-mail list).

Tomorrow is Bakugan Day, and also Origami Day. These are "bring your own if you want to participate" activities.

Building Terrariums

Hi all! First, I want to say thanks to everyone for the amount of bottles that were brought in over the last week. We now have enough for all classes to build terrariums. Awesome! We are planning to start our growing process Tuesday afternoon. To be prepared, we do need to do some prep work in advance. We need to cut each bottle (something probably not suitable for our students to do) and also copy growing journals for each student. We will be doing this prep work after school on Monday. Any help from families would be really great. If it works within your schedule, I will set up play activities for all ages while we get to work. I can't imagine it will take too long. No need to confirm, but if you have an extra half an hour, it would really be appreciated. Thanks and I can't wait to get going on this project!

A Message From Stephanie

We are having an information night about the impacts of ballot measures 66 & 67 next Wednesday at 7 pm. This election will have a significant impact on Trillium and we want to answer questions for parents about the issues. We will have a guest speaker from Stand for Children at the session also. I encourage you to come and get involved or at least get your questions answered.

If you want to volunteer to work in the community regarding this election, I can connect you with groups that can use volunteers.

Friday Movie Day

Not sure if you all saw it in the post earlier today, but a proposal was passed by a student prior to Winter Break stating that our class would have a "welcome back to school" movie day on this upcoming Friday, the 8th. Today we held a class vote on which movie we would view. Kiki's Delivery Service was voted number one with the knowledge that we may in fact view the second place movie, My Neighbor Totoro. Bottle Reminder

Hi! Hope you all had a wonderful winter break. I can't wait to get back to our school tomorrow. I've been spending the last few days getting prepared for our rain forest unit and am so excited. There are countless things to explore and investigate. I just wanted to remind you all that we will be building terrariums and to do so, we will need a lot of 2 liter plastic bottles. We'll need 19 for our class and 57 total for the 3 classrooms combined. The sooner we can get them, the better. I hope this doesn't come off as me pushing excessive soda drinking upon your households. See you all tomorrow!
