Front Yard Project!
Hi everyone. The Village Building Convergence started TODAY (Saturday) and goes for 10 days. Please come help build the new front entrance to Trillium. Childcare is available today and tomorrow from 9-3 (e-mail Polly (polly at trilliumcharterschool.org) for childcare.)

The World's Fair themed Performance Night for the first and second grades is Friday June 4 at 5:30 (that's next week!). The kids have been working hard on their performances. Please sign up outside the classroom to bring a dish for the potluck that night. Also, please check in with your child to see if they need a costume for their performance.
Intensives are June 7 - 10. They will be Monday through Thursday from 9 - 12. The students were given a list of all the classes that will be offered, and each student submitted their choices. They will each be assigned to one of their class choices, and be in that class for those four mornings. (Still meet in Whitney's class first in the morning).
The last day of school is Thursday June 17. We will have a noon dismissal that day.

They can help students meet up with their rides.) We will meet at Tillamook Cheese Factory at 12:00 to have lunch (bring it or buy it). We will be returning to Portland on Friday after lunch.
Every single time that you are touching the water in the ocean, you have to be holding an adult's hand. You may only (even with an adult) go into the water up to your knees.
At the campout, we have the same rules as at school. There is no play fighting. We still have mediations. No hand-held video games, or other electronic games are permitted.
We have brand new markers, pencils, and erasers for our classroom. Let's take really good care of them!

Monday is the MANDATORY campout meeting. It is at 6:30, here at school. It is for any adults going on the campout.
The campout is next Thursday & Friday.
Rob (a 3-4-5 teacher) has been working really hard to change the frong parking lot into something really great for our school. He is building a wall along the front of the school, and between the school and the IFCC building. It will be a cob wall - very environmentally friendly! This Saturday and Sunday will be the prep for the building, and next weekend the construction will begin. There is a sign-up sheet outside the classroom for anyone who is willing to help. This is an adult only event, as there will be lots of heavy machinery.
Today is educational movie day (the 14th). We will watch an episode on oceans!

Going To The Park!
Hi all! Beth, Brian and I were talking today about how awesome our kids have been doing and we decided that we would reward the kids with a trip to Peninsula Park to play some cooperative games and enjoy the weather. We will be leaving shortly after lunch (around 12:15) and walking to the park. If anyone would like to join us, you are more than welcome. We'll probably just stay until the kids get tired out, so I can't really give an exact return time. Thanks!

Potluck For 2nd Graders Tomorrow Evening
Hi all!
Hopefully we all know about the potluck planned for tomorrow evening for our 2nd graders heading onto 3rd grade. Its all been coordinated by the 3-4-5 team (I hope this isn't catching anyone off guard) and will be a really insightful experience for our families who are looking forward to a leap for their child into an absolutely wonderful teaching team next school year. Below are the details as sent by Jenny.
2nd/3rd grade potluck: Our second annual 2nd/3rd grade potluck is just around the corner....Wednesday May 12th, 5:30-7:00 pm.
We are asking families to bring a dish to share by last name. Bring your own plates, utensils, and cups to serve your family.
A-G: Main Dishes
H-M: Side or Salad Dishes
N-R: Dessert
S-Z: Drinks
We need to ask a few folks to help with space layout and meal clean up (please email your student's advisor if you can come 20 - 30 minutes early and stay in the dinner room a few extra minutes before heading to the parent discussion.)
We will eat together in the multipurpose room and then gather parents for a discussion time while students participate in cooperative games and activities.
For the parent discussion, we are asking 3rd grade families to speak with your child before Wednesday about their successes this year.
* What has been the journey of your child and how have they found successes as 3rd graders?
* How is your involvement and communication with 345 advisors been the same or different than with the K12?
* What further questions might 2nd grade parents have about the transition?
While parents are meeting, students will partner in a scavenger hunt in the intermediate classrooms, do yoga exercises and games and then have a presentation by 3rd graders about what is means and looks like to be a part of the 345.

Charter Schools
Hi all!
I just posted a link to a trailer for an upcoming release that I am really excited about. I wanted to comment on it but couldn't figure out how to after the video. Anyways, I think it really shows the power that our Charter Schools have to to make a difference with kids and within our school system. Bottom line, I would encourage people to look into the work done by Geoffrey Canada who is highlighted in the preview. It is truly amazing.

Trillium's Front Yard Project
Upcoming Trillium "Front Yard" events
Here are some upcoming dates for the Trillium "Front Yard" project:
Sat, 5/8; 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Meeting to prepare for upcoming work parties.
Sat, 5/15 - Sun, 5/16. Work party to bust up asphalt, place fence posts.
Sat, 5/22 - Sun, 5/23. Work party to lay foundation for cob wall.
Fri, 5/28 - Sun, 6/6. Village Building Convergence (VBC); i.e., the 10-day work party with lots of community help, to build the cob wall along Interstate, and wood fence along border with IFCC parking lot.

Good Morning!!
Today is Friday May 7, 2010.
Your class got 2nd place in raffle sales, Whitney!!!! We sold 358 tickets!!!!!!!!!
We will all go to our All School Meeting.
We will have sharing.
We will have snack and recess.
We will do a name activity.
We will continue to work on our top secret projects.
We will be active listeners.
We will have fun!!

Campout forms and Run For The Arts money are both due TODAY!!
We have our field trip to PGE park on Monday. We will be riding the MAX. Please have your student bring a sack lunch.
The 2nd graders have a Potluck Wednesday night (May 12th) with the third graders. It is from 5:30 - 7:00. Please bring your own plates, utensils, etc. Dishes were assigned by last name. Please check the checklist Whitney put in boxes to see what your family should bring.
Monday May 17th there will be a mandatory parent meeting about the campout. The meeting is from 6:30 to 7:30 p..m.
Please continue to check your kids for lice!

!!Camp Out Forms!!
Hi everyone. I wanted to really stress how important it is to have your Camp Out info sheet handed in by tomorrow. Beth will be ordering our food for the stay tomorrow after school. If we don't have all of the forms in, then we might not order enough food. I will be out tomorrow, but you can give the form to Yvonne or directly to Beth. Thanks!

Next week the whole school is having "no name-calling week". We will talk alot about a word called "bullying". We will start this tomorrow. We will learn about our names, and about what it feels like to be called names, and how that hurts people's feelings.
Monday is our FIELD TRIP!! We are going to ride the MAX to PGE park. We have all our chaperones signed up - thank you!
All Raffle tickets should be in now (sold or unsold). The drawing is TOMORROW at the all school meeting!!

Sharing For Friday
The class decided today that sharing for Friday will be something particularly special to each student who chooses to share. We did do a favorite toy last week so I would urge that students do try to steer away from bringing toys again although I do realize that certain toys carry a special value. I will be out on a personal day this friday as well.
Also, just a reminder to try and bring in the Camp Out info sheet ASAP so we can begin figuring out shared rides and yurt configurations. Thanks!
Two Quick Things
There is a mandatory pre-camp out meeting for parents on Monday May 17th from 6:30 to 7:30 in The Multi Purpose Room.
There is another case of lice in the lower school. I will be checking students today but is probably also a good idea to do some checks at home. Thanks!

Today is our Wednesday after-school clubs. The kids can stay until 4:30 for clubs.
We will vote today on sharing for Friday.
We will have a class meeting on Friday.
The RAFFLE is over!! If you have any tickets left at home, please get them in asap. We won't have the final numbers until Friday, so we will hopefully (if still in first or second place) have a pie throw on Monday:),
Monday is our field trip to a BASEBALL game. Presentation is at 10, and game after. We will leave shortly after 9. We will be eating while on the field trip. Please keep this in mind when planning for lunch for your kids. Also, we still need two more chaperones for riding the MAX and attending the game! There is a sign up sheet outside the classroom.
There is a campout meeting on Monday May 17th in the evening. Time will be announced shortly.
Run for the Arts money is due Friday. You can bring it to Whitney.
