!!Park Play Day This Friday!!

Hi all!

I hope you all are enjoying the first couple of weeks of your summer. I'm planning on doing a park play day and hopefully a nice bike ride for this Friday, July 2nd at Wilshire Park (http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=15778749032305586044&q=wilshire+park+portland&hl=en&gl=us) from 11:30 to 3:00. I haven't quite figured out all of the details yet, but I'm thinking we could meet and have lunch at the park. Then play some games and possibly take a group bike ride to either Fernhill Park or The Sabin Water Tower Park. That part just depends if we have bikes and the ability to ride. Parents of course are welcome to attend and/or go on the short ride with us. I guess I'll just wait to hear feedback on what is doable in terms of bike riding. We could always make car ride arrangements for those who would be more comfortable not riding bikes. Either way, we could just hang out at the park and enjoy some time together and (hopefully) some good weather. Children should bring a sack lunch, a water bottle, preferably a backpack, and a bike and helmet if available (bike locks are always a plus to be safe). Please e-mail me (whitney@trilliumcharterschool.org) if you are interested and with some info about biking capabilities/comfort levels.

On a side note, if this is a successful experience and families are interested, I would be very excited about offering similar days as possible summer camp opportunities out of our Trillium space. Once again, please let me know if you are interested in your child coming this Friday so I can begin the planning. Thanks!

Hi everyone, sorry for the bunch of posts today. Our class had a meeting just now and decided that we should have a treat during our Moving Up Ceremony tomorrow. We agreed that we have really been satisfying our sweet toothes as of late and opted to have fruit smoothies. I will provide the yogurt and am inviting students to bring in some frozen fruit tomorrow (I will also buy some fruit in case we all forget). Ok, thanks!

I was just informed that Trillium was able to find a sub for aftercare this Thursday, June 17th. So, aftercare will be available from 12:00 to 6:00 after our last day of school. Thanks!

Hi all!

I forgot to mention this earlier, but I am asking that you please send your child to school with a paper grocery bag. We will spend some time Thursday cleaning out our cubbies and drawers and will need something to carry our belongings home. Thanks!

TOMORROW is the sleepover. It is at 5:30. Please come right to Whitney's room. We will have pizza. If it is nice out, we will have pizza in the rooftop garden. Please bring a pizza topping, pajamas, clothes for Thursday, sleeping bag, and pillow.

If you (kids) don't think you want to sleepover, you are welcome to just come for the pizza and games and a movie, and then go home to sleep, and come join us for breakfast (about 8:00) in the morning.

A Busy Week Approaches

I wanted to remind everyone that we will be having a Field Day tomorrow at Peninsula Park with the rest of the Lower School. We will be eating lunch at the park, so please send a lunch with your child. !!Class Sleep Over Time Changed!!

Hi all!

I wanted to update everyone that the time for the class sleep over at Trillium on next Wednesday the 16th has been changed from 5:00pm to 5:30pm. The circus group will be performing until 5:30 that day. Please have the children come directly to our classroom upon arrival. Just a reminder, kids should bring a pillow, a sleeping bag/blankets, a sleeping pad (if available), PJs, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a pizza topping (pizza dough, cheese (dairy and non-dairy), and sauce will be provided). Once again, parents are more than welcome to come and partake in the evening's activities and/or spend the night in the classroom. We will have breakfast (provided) together in the classroom. Thanks so much and sorry about the time change.

John Wooden

Hi all! As many of you know, I am a pretty big basketball fan. Considering which, I was pretty sad to hear that John Wooden passed away today. I wasn't around during his tenure but his legacy is something I always hear about. I dug around the internet today and realized he had a talk on TED (the same website from which I posted a video from Ken Robinson this past fall). I had no idea that his background was in teaching. I found his talk to be really inspiring and wanted to share it with you all. I hope you enjoy it.

Friday is the World's Fair and project night and potluck at 5:30 p.m. Please sign up outside the classroom to bring something for the potluck.

TOMORROW: We are going to go out and help with the front yard project. It would be a good day for boots and for clothes that can get dirty!
